Paid in Full

The human story is much like that of a person being held hostage for ransom. Ever since Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, mankind has been held hostage by Satan, through the stronghold of our sin nature. Sin has made us its slave, offering us no way out of its death grip, at least not in our own strength. The only option was for someone to pay the ransom, the price demanded by the captor, Satan, for the freedom of all of humanity. That price was that sinless blood would be shed to redeem us from the grip of sin. Only one person could free us, Jesus, the sinless lamb of God. We celebrate Good Friday because the God who was ‘able’ to pay the price was also ‘willing’ to make ultimate payment – death on the cross!
